‘I can’t pay my four drivers ₦100,000 per month’, SGF decries ‘unrealistic’ demands by Labour

Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, has bemoaned the unrealistic wage increase demands being made by organized labour.

Akume said this in Abuja on Thursday during a meeting with the National Executive Council (NEC) of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN)

According to him, paying a minimum wage of ₦100,000 to his drivers will be a herculean responsibility.

“I can’t afford to pay my driver one hundred thousand because they are four,” Akume said.

He decried the demands made by the organised labour, adding, “Where do we get that money from?”

News VEO reported that the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, on Thursday, submitted the Minimum Wage template to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

It was also reported that the Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma disclosed that the Tripartite Committee on Minimum Wage will reach a figure by Friday (Today).
