Globacom is set for a new era with the imminent appointment of Ahmad Farroukh, former MTN Nigeria CEO, as its new chief executive, marking the first major leadership change since the company was founded by Mike Adenuga in 2003.
Although an official announcement has not yet been made, Globacom has informed the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) and received approval for a new board.
With a career spanning roles in MTN Ghana, MTN Nigeria, MTN South Africa, Mobily in Saudi Arabia, and Smile Communications, Farroukh brings deep industry expertise.
He holds an MBA and CPA credentials and faces the task of navigating Globacom’s recent subscriber loss due to an NCC audit, reducing its market share to 12.39%.
His official appointment is expected shortly.
