Governor Sim Fubara of Rivers State has presented the 2025 budget proposal to a faction of the state House of Assembly.
The ₦1.1 trillion budget was presented to the Victor Oko-Jumbo-led House of Assembly on Monday.
The four-member Assembly faction, led by Oko-Jumbo, had earlier read Fubara’s letter requesting permission to present the appropriation bill during plenary on Monday. This marks Fubara’s second budget presentation since assuming office.
In 2023, Fubara presented the 2024 state appropriation bill of N800 billion to a four-man House of Assembly faction led by Speaker Edison Ehie. The presentation took place amid the sudden demolition of parts of the State House of Assembly complex.
The demolition followed the defection of 27 Assembly members, led by fractional Speaker Martin Amaewhule, from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC). The lawmakers defected to the APC following a face-off between Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike.
Ehie eventually resigned from the Assembly, after which Fubara appointed him as Chief of Staff.
