The currency rate for goods clearance has been periodically adjusted by the CBN to reflect what is available in the official window. Days have passed since the rate increased to N1515/$ and then decreased to N1,472.
Thus far in January, there have been two increases in the rate.
The currency rate was also modified on February 2 to N1, 356.883/$, hiked to N1, 413.62/$ on February 3 and changed again to N1, 417.635/$ on Saturday, February 10, and N1,444.56/$ on Monday, February 11. On Wednesday, February 14, the CBN altered the exchange rate to N1481.482/$1.
The most recent increase, however, was on Thursday, February 15, 2023, when it was adjusted to N1,515.092/$1.
The exchange rate for cargo clearance has once again been increased by the Federal Government through the Central Bank of Nigeria to N1,605/$.
On Wednesday, the new tariff was shown on the Nigeria Customs Service website when visited.
