The Federal Government has assured members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) that the backlog of their newly approved ₦77,000 monthly allowance will be paid after several months of delay.
This announcement comes as a relief to corps members who have been awaiting the implementation of the increased allowance.

- Allowance Increase: The allowance was raised from ₦33,000 to ₦77,000 in September 2024, aligning with the National Minimum Wage (Amendment) Act. However, the implementation has faced delays due to budgetary issues.
- Government Assurance: Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, confirmed that serving corps members and those enrolled in the scheme during the announcement will receive backdated payments. - NYSC DG’s Statement: Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, the NYSC Director General, recently assured corps members that payments would begin in March 2025. He reiterated the government’s commitment to resolving the issue.
