The State House has revealed that its overhead expenditure for 2024 reached ₦22.62bn, distributed across seven cost centres, including State House Headquarters, the offices of the President, Vice President, and Chief of Staff, among others.
Permanent Secretary Olufunso Adebiyi shared this information during an oversight visit by the House of Representatives Committee on Special Duties to the Presidential Villa’s data centre. He reported a 99% implementation of overhead expenditure and a 43% implementation rate for capital projects for 2024.
Adebiyi also highlighted that ₦15.08bn had been released, with ₦14.9bn already spent, leaving a small balance. Capital expenditure for the year saw ₦22bn spent out of the ₦51.3bn allocated.
The Permanent Secretary commended the legislators for approving a higher budget allocation in 2024, which helped improve staff welfare and fund key projects such as the renovation of presidential residences and digitisation efforts. He noted that full digitisation of the State House’s operations is expected by November 2024.
During the visit, Chairman of the House Committee, Hon. Kabir Tukura, praised the ongoing digital transformation and expressed satisfaction with the State House’s budgetary performance and project implementation.
Additionally, Adebiyi briefed the lawmakers on the renovations at Dodan Barracks in Lagos, expected to be completed by the end of the year, with funding sourced from the 2023 supplementary budget and the 2024 budget.
