FG offers free CNG Conversion for Vehicles in Lagos, Oyo

The Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, announced on Thursday via his official X account that the state would begin converting vehicles to Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) under the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative (PCNGI).

The initiative will launch on Friday, September 13, between 3 PM and 6 PM, at six designated locations across Lagos, with free CNG conversion kits for the first 50 vehicles at each site that pass inspection.

This initiative aims to provide significant savings for vehicle owners, as refueling with CNG costs ₦230 per SCM, much lower than petrol prices. The conversion program will take place at the following Lagos centers:

The CNG conversion initiative, which is part of the “Operation First Come, First Serve”, will also take place in Abeokuta, Ibadan, Abuja, and Kaduna over the weekend.

Launched by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in August 2023, the PCNGI seeks to introduce over 11,500 CNG-enabled vehicles and distribute 55,000 conversion kits to transform the nation’s transportation system.
