The Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development has approved Kogi State’s proposal to build an International Airport in Zariagi.
This approval, communicated on October 9, 2024, is part of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s initiative to enhance the state’s aviation capacity.
“The Ododo Administration has considered it a top priority for Kogi State to have an International Airport and join the league of the aviation hub. The strategic location of the state is no doubt, an invaluable advantage in harnessing the aviation service market as the centre of the nation,” the approval read.
The airport aims to alleviate traffic on the Lokoja-Abuja road and service ten other states, boosting the local economy and job creation.
The project will also include cargo capacity, further enhancing Kogi’s role in the aviation market .
