The management of Airtel Networks Limited has been asked by the victims of the Abaranje, Ikotun, Lagos explosion to fly them to the best burn center in the United States or the United Kingdom.
The fire and explosion at the company’s base transceiver station (BTS Lag 767) caused severe injuries to all of the victims including a pet dog, Bella at no. 15/19, located at Abiodun Ibidapo Street, Asalu bus-stop, Lagos State, Abaranje, Ikotun, on Tuesday, March 19, 2024.
Feranmi Nureni Oluwatoba, Saheed Adeleke, Franklin Obade and Saheed Raji are the survivors while the fifth victim died at the Gbagada General Hospital two days being rushed to the hospital.
Through their lawyer, Olubunmi Odeniyi of Bunmi Odeniyi and Associate, the victims are requesting N150,000,000 in monetary relief from Airtel Nigeria Limited to cover for pain and suffering, cost of medical assistance of the choice, discretion abroad including skin-grafting and plastic surgery, loss of/reduction of life prospect and a compensation of N100m each. The victims have been fighting for their lives ever since the incident.
They submitted the request in a letter addressed to Airtel Network Limited’s Managing Director/CEO on April 2, 2024 directed within seven (7) days of the date of the letter, seeking the office to make an urgent commitment or undertaking to one of the pathways mentioned above in items 1 and 2.
