The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), on Monday, arrested Ifeanyi Okowa, former Delta State governor and ex-vice presidential candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
He was arrested over allegations of misappropriating ₦1.3 trillion in state funds.
The funds, reportedly from the 13% oil derivation allocation meant for oil-producing states, were allegedly used to acquire shares and investments in oil-related assets, including UTM Floating Liquefied Natural Gas Company.
The EFCC spokesman, Dele Oyewale, confirmed Okowa’s detention.
