Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, have approved a new minimum wage of N70,000 for their workers. The new wage will be effective from December 1, 2024.
Governor Oyebanji’s approval followed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) by the state government and leaders of organized labor in Ekiti. The Head of Service, Dr. Folakemi Olomojobi, signed the agreement on behalf of the state government, while labor leaders signed on behalf of the workers.
In the FCT, Minister Wike approved the immediate payment of the new minimum wage. He also ordered the payment of three months’ arrears for all staff of the administration.
The acting Head of Civil Service of the FCT, Mrs. Grace Adayilo, stated that this move is part of the commitment to the welfare and well-being of the workers.
