Ekiti State has started disbursing the newly approved minimum wage of ₦70,000 to its workers.
The state government announced that this updated wage structure, which includes consequential benefits for both state civil servants and local government employees, took effect from November 2024.
Governor Biodun Oyebanji attributed the successful rollout of the new minimum wage to the financial reforms introduced by President Bola Tinubu, which increased federal allocations to states.
He also thanked the workers for their patience and support during the transition period and hinted at the possibility of further wage increases if the state’s financial situation continues to improve.
