An official of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has been found dead at his residence in the Federal Capital Territory.
The deceased, name withheld, is said to have been a member of Course 5 of the anti-graft agency’s academy, and was also reported to have been a hardworking, well organized, and productive officer of the anti-graft agency.
The operative reportedly battled depression and was said to have struggled with personal issues before his death.
Dele Oyewale, spokesperson for the EFCC, informed journalists that the agency will investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident and offer support to the deceased’s family.
Oyewale noted that the investigation will consider factors such as mental health issues and family challenges that may have influenced the officer’s actions.
He emphasized that the EFCC would not release any statements or disclose the officer’s identity until the investigation is complete.
