The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has warned that it may export its petroleum products to other countries if the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) and local oil marketers fail to patronize the refinery.
This statement was made by Devakumar Edwin, Vice President of Oil and Gas at Dangote Industries Limited, during an appearance on the Brekete Family Show.
The announcement followed the refinery’s recent commencement of petrol production, with Dangote President Aliko Dangote stating that the Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) would soon be available in the Nigerian market, depending on NNPCL’s response.
Edwin mentioned that while the refinery has already been producing and exporting aviation fuel, kerosene, and diesel, it began producing PMS on Sunday.
However, Edwin noted that challenges with local traders and market blockades have limited the distribution of products within Nigeria, leading to the possibility of exporting PMS if local demand remains unmet, similar to how aviation fuel and diesel are being exported.
