Dangote Refinery to Operate at Full Capacity in 30 Days

Dangote Refinery

Nigeria’s Dangote Refinery, Africa’s largest, is set to begin operating at full capacity within the next 30 days.

The refinery, built by Nigerian billionaire Aliko Dangote in Lagos, has been processing crude into products like diesel, naphtha, and jet fuel since January last year. It started processing petrol in September.

Currently operating at 85% capacity, the refinery aims to reach 100% capacity soon. Edwin Devakumar, head of the refinery, mentioned that they are working towards competing with European refiners when operating at full capacity. The refinery had faced challenges in securing sufficient crude locally but has turned to importing crude to meet its needs.

The Dangote Refinery is also exploring new markets for its refined products, including exporting jet fuel to Saudi Aramco.

This move is part of its strategy to expand and ensure a steady supply of refined products.
