EFCC

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has detained, Pascal Okechukwu, a socialite popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest.

According to the anti-graft commission, he is to appear today (Wednesday) before the Federal High Court in Lagos.

Cubana Chief Priest will be arraigned on three counts bordering on abuse of naira, spraying and tampering with the nation’s currency at a social event, which contravenes the Central Bank Act of 2007 before Justice Kehinde Ogundare.

The mouthpiece of the EFCC, Dele Oyewale, confirmed his arrest to newsmen.

“Yes, the Cubana Chief Priest is in our custody, and he’ll be arraigned in court tomorrow (Wednesday),” he said.

The commission has earlier revealed that it was probing several other celebrities over the abuse of the nation’s currency.

In a statement, its spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, said, “Many of them have made useful statements to the commission and many more have been invited by investigators working on the matter.

“The EFCC will not relent in its no-sacred-cow mode of operations and the public should be wary of running afoul of laws against the crime,” he added.
