On Tuesday, over seven bishops led a protest to the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) office in Asaba, Delta State, in defense of Senior Prophet Jeremiah Fufeyin of Christ MercyLand Deliverance Ministry.
The protest, involving members of Fufeyin’s church and other Christian groups, aimed to challenge NAFDAC’s stance on Fufeyin’s spiritual products, such as Miracle & Healing Water and River Jordan Water.
Protesters argued that spiritual products should not require NAFDAC approval, as they have spiritual backing.
Metropolitan Archbishop Samuel Baaba emphasized that NAFDAC should avoid interfering in spiritual matters, stating that faith-related items are beyond the agency’s regulatory scope.
Other religious leaders, including Calixtus and Most Celestine Ewurum, also voiced their opposition, asserting that NAFDAC had no authority to label these products fake without testing them.
This demonstration followed a warning from NAFDAC’s Director General, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, who had urged the public to refrain from purchasing unregistered miracle products from the ministry.
Adeyeye clarified that none of Fufeyin’s products were registered with the agency, advising consumers to be cautious.
