Beta Glass to reveal Abimbola Ogunbanjo’s Successor when appropriate

Abimbola Ogunbanjo

Following the passing of its chairman, Abimbola Ogunbanjo, Beta Glass, a division of Frigoglass Group, said it will announce the succession plan for the board.

Ogunbanjo, the former group chairman of the Nigerian Exchange Group Plc (NGX Group), was hurt on Friday in an American helicopter crash.

Along with his wife and son, Herbert Wigwe was a former group chief executive officer (GCEO) of Access Holdings Plc. All three of them perished in the disaster.

Beta Glass stated in a corporate filing on Monday that, in the interim, its board of directors will continue to offer support.

“In due time Beta Glass and the Frigoglass Group will communicate the board’s succession plan. In the interim, the Company will continue to receive support from its Board of Directors,” read a statement from the company.

Gagik Apkarian, managing director of Tetrad Capital Partners and chairman of the board of the Frigoglass Group, commented on the event that took Ogunbanjo’s life, calling it tragic news.

“Throughout his long and successful tenure on the board of Beta Glass, Abimbola Ogunbanjo’s leadership has been instrumental in driving the Company’s growth to become the largest manufacturer of glass containers and packaging solutions in West and Central Africa,” he stated.
