Apapa Customs hits milestone, records ₦17.9bn revenue in a day

Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Babatunde Olomu

The Nigeria Customs Service, Apapa Area Command, revealed it set an unmatched feat by raking in ₦17,903,312,518.80 in a single day.

This has never been recorded since its establishment.

This was made known by the Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Babatunde Olomu, during a press briefing held on Wednesday, 19 June 2024, at the Command.

“This feat is the beginning of many revenue collection, trade facilitation and anti-smuggling exploits to be achieved while discharging our statutory responsibilities,” he said.

He saluted the unrelenting efforts of Customs officers in curbing revenue loopholes, especially in the face of dwindling cargo throughput, which has reportedly dropped by more than 50 per cent.
