The African Development Bank, AfDB, disclosed that it has secured $110,000 in funding for Ekiti State to aid the development of the State Electricity Priority Plan (SEPP).
This was made known by the State’s Commissioner for Infrastructure and Public Utilities, Prof. Bolaji Aluko, in Ado Ekiti. He said the funds were gotten from the Sustainable Energy Fund for Africa (SEFA).
Speaking, he said the fund approval came through after the state requested a grant to support the establishment of the Power Sector Reform Desk in his Ministry for mainstreaming circulated renewable energy solutions.
The funding would sponsor three delegates from the state to participate in a hybrid training course on power sector regulation at the Africa School of Regulation (ASR), in addition to consultancy services, according to the Commissioner.
He further reaffirmed his Ministry’s commitment to ensuring a steady supply of electricity, potable water, responsive fire services, and an efficient telecommunication system in the state.
This isn’t the first collaboration between the Government of Ekiti and the AfDB as News VEO reported, few months ago, that The African Development Bank has committed $80 million in loan financing for Ekiti state-led pioneering special economic zone project.
