On Thursday, February 15, 2024, President Bola Tinubu will leave Abuja for Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, to take part in the 37th Ordinary Session of the African Union’s (AU) Assembly of Heads of State and Government.

“Educate an African fit for the 21st Century: Building resilient education systems for increased access to inclusive, lifelong, quality, and relevant learning in Africa” is the theme of this year’s summit.

Ajuri Ngelale, the presidential spokesman, said that the president will attend high-level meetings with other African leaders to discuss institutional reforms of the African Union, peace and security, particular thematic issues like climate change, as well as the priorities and participation procedures of the continental body in the G20.

As the Chairman of the regional organization, President Tinubu will also participate in an exceptional meeting of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of ECOWAS on the fringes of the summit.

Several ministers and other high-ranking government officials will travel with President Tinubu, who is anticipated to return to Abuja after the conference.
