Philip Sha’ibu has been returned as Deputy Governor of Edo State, months after his removal from the position by Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court in Abuja.
In his judgment, Justice Omotosho declared the impeachment by the Edo State House of Assembly illegal and unconstitutional.
The judge ruled that the impeachment violated the Constitution.
In addition to reinstating Shu’aibu, the court ordered that his salaries and allowances be paid from April.
Shortly after his impeachment in April, Shu’aibu described the act by the state House of Assembly as one that doesn’t fall within the tenets of law.
He further linked it to his intention to become the Governor of the state following the expiration of Governor Godwin Obaseki’s tenure.
Hours after Philip Shu’aibu was impeached by the state house of assembly, Omobayo Godwin was inaugurated as the Edo Deputy Governor.
