Following the deaths of two traditional rulers in Ekiti State, 13 suspects were reportedly taken into custody on Thursday, according to the Nigeria Police Force .

“Now, we have 13 suspects arrested so far in connection with that incident. And we are sure we are going to get more of these suspects,” Force Spokesman, Muyiwa Adejobi, disclosed on Channels Television’s Politics Today programme.

“We are working with them (suspects) and they are giving us reliable and useful information. “We are sure and optimistic that we are going to get all of them apprehended and bring them to book,” he said.

Adejobi added that an Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) had been sent to the South-West state by Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun in an effort to root out the marauders who were killing and maiming people there.

Oba David Ogunsola, the Elesun of Esun-Ekiti, and Oba Olatunde Olusola, the Onimojo of Imojo-Ekiti, were assassinated on Monday while traveling back from a conference at Irele-Ekiti.

Adejobi further stated that the state’s police had sent helicopters and armored personnel carriers, promising the people that students and instructors who had been abducted in the Eporo-Ekiti region of the state would be returned.
