In response to Rev. Timothy Daluk’s recent remarks criticizing the military, the Defence Headquarters has announced that it will seek a meeting with the chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria in the Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Daluk had charged that the Nigerian military was in charge of overseeing the state’s Christian murders and property devastation. in a widely shared video, Daluk was quoted as saying, “I am here to report the situation happening in Mangu Local Government for the whole world to understand.”
“At this specific moment in Mangu, our people are being sent away by the military so that the militia can set fire to their homes.”
But in response to a question from other media on Thursday, Maj. Gen. Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations, stated that DHQ was contacting the clergyman to confirm his claims.
“DHQ is reaching out to him to come and substantiate the claims,” he stated. Emotions frequently cause people to make poor decisions after being through a particularly traumatic event.
“After we meet with him, we will investigate his claims thoroughly. Nevertheless, the military will carry out its responsibilities in a professional manner and in compliance with the highest global standards.”
