Plane crashes with 62 on board

A plane carrying 62 passengers has crashed.

It happened in Brazil’s São Paulo state, according to the airline VoePass.

The ATR-72 aircraft was traveling from Cascavel in Paraná to Guarulhos in São Paulo.

São Paulo’s state fire brigade confirmed that the crash occurred in the city of Vinhedo and dispatched seven crews to the site. Video footage captured the plane descending rapidly into a wooded area, followed by a large plume of black smoke.

GloboNews aired scenes of a significant fire and smoke emerging from what appeared to be the plane’s fuselage. Additional footage showed the aircraft spiraling downward before impact.

As of now, it remains unclear how many people were killed or injured in the crash, and the cause of the accident is still under investigation.
