The Oyo State Government issued a seven-day notice on Tuesday, to owners and occupants of shanties, containers, kiosks, and other unlawfully erected businesses to leave the roadside areas or risk the full force of the law.
This order was given by Abdulmojeed Mogbojuola, the state’s commissioner for the environment and natural resources, while he was visiting the Ojoo community in the Akinyele Local Government Area.
In violation of the Environmental Sanitation Regulation, 2013, Mogbojubola continued, saying that their actions have been a nuisance to the public’s health and that “the act has been causing unwarranted obstruction of free flow of traffic, passers by, and vehicles.”
“Illegal operations should be halted, especially, on the road sides and drainages occupied by the individuals. And you must vacant this place in seven days.”
Consequently, he suggested that business operations be moved to better locations in the local marketplaces.
He claimed that by doing this, traffic accidents, fatalities, and property damage would decrease.
