Olubadan: Oyo Govt receives nomination letter

The government of Oyo state has affirmed via the State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Segun Olayiwola, that it has acknowledged the nomination correspondence of Oba Owolabi Olakulehin as the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland.

“We have received the letter. We are working on it,” says the Commissioner.

Oba Olakulehin was unanimously nominated by the kingmakers, led by Otun Olubadan, High Chief Rasidi Ladoja, at a meeting held at the Oja’ba Palace.

He was nominated by the Osi Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba Gbadamosi Adebimpe who took the place of Otun Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba Tajudeen Ajibola who was absent at the said meeting.

The outcome of the meeting, the nomination letter, thereafter was forwarded to Governor Seyi Makinde in accordance with the 1957 Declaration for final approval and readiness for coronation.

“In this meeting, we have concluded the appointment of the new Olubadan subject to the consent of the governor,” High Chief Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja said after the meeting which authenticated Oba Olakulehin as the next Olubadan.
