The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has announced that 99 individuals, along with two others on exemption, were fraudulently mobilized from the University of Calabar for National Service between the 2021 and 2023 service years.
Consequently, the NYSC has invalidated the Certificates of National Service issued to these 101 persons.
In a statement released by Eddy Megwa, the NYSC’s Director of Information and Public Relations, the management emphasized its commitment to ensuring that only qualified individuals receive NYSC Certificates of National Service.
The NYSC is particularly focused on preventing unqualified graduates, especially those from unaccredited universities, from being recognized or mobilized for service.
The statement urged members of the public, including Corps Employers, Government Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), Corporate and Religious Organizations, Multi-National Companies, Corps Producing Institutions, and other key stakeholders, to verify the authenticity of any NYSC certificates presented to them.
The NYSC also encouraged these stakeholders to confirm the legitimacy of Certificates of National Service, Exemption, and Exclusion Letters directly from the NYSC National Directorate Headquarters in Abuja.
