Minimum Wage: Labour to get 36 CNG Buses from Tinubu

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu – GCFR has pledged to give 36 Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses to the Organized Labour of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC).

According to a statement by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, he made the promise on Thursday during his meeting with the leadership of the NLC and the TUC over the new minimum wage for Nigerian workers.

“As a way of ameliorating the high cost of living by workers, President Bola Tinubu has promised to give 36 CNG-powered buses with a sitting capacity of 100 each to the TUC and NLC,” the statement on X read.

“This was one of the highlights of the meeting between the Federal Government and the two central trade unions in Abuja today.”

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Leaders of the Organised Labour agreed on a ₦70,000 Minimum Wage on Thursday.

Also it was reported that Joe Ajaero, President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), stated that the Organised Labour agreed to ₦70,000 as the new minimum wage for Nigerian workers due to the wage review frequency being changed from every five years to once every three years.

He further explained that the Labour Unions had an agreement that was ultimately abandoned for some reasons with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the payment of ₦250,000 as the new minimum wage.
