Makinde Approves Payment of Scholarships & Bursary, Present Buses to Students

Sèyí Makinde, Governor of Oyo State

In order to facilitate student mobility, Oyo State Governor Engineer Seyi Makinde gave 28 eighteen-seater vehicles to the Indigenous Associations and Student Unions of tertiary institutions in the state. This is only one example of the governor’s outstanding educational policies.

This was done by the Governor at the Car park of the Governor’s office state secretariat Agodi, Ibadan on Thursday (Today).

Speaking to the students, Governor Makinde stated that his administration would not compromise in providing the best for the state, even though the nation is going through a difficult time.

Posting the news on one of his Social Media (Facebook) handle, Makinde said, “This morning, we handed over 28 18-seater buses to Federal, State, Indigenous and Special Education institutions in Oyo State in fulfilment of a promise I made to students. I announced that I had approved the payment of bursaries and scholarships to students and that the process will be online to ensure they can register to receive it easily. I also assured our students that our administration will continue to take measures to ease the hardship they are facing, and that my personal scholarship scheme will also be implemented within 8 weeks.”

Governor Makinde said that Omituntun has evolved into a movement for the betterment of the state, adding that the people of the state should watch out for Omituntun 3.0, all the while acknowledging the unwavering support he has been receiving from the state students since Omituntun 1.0 and 2.0.

Victor Olojede, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Student Affairs, praised Governor Makinde for the outstanding accomplishment and said that it was unmatched in Nigerian history.

He noted that no Governor has ever donated 28 buses to tertiary institutions and students’ bodies at the same time in the history of the country.

However, he appealed to the Governor to attend to the pressing needs of the Students.

Speaking on behalf of the students, other leaders of student unions praised Governor Makinde’s generosity toward the state’s students and praised his education programs as being among the best of his peers.
