Maersk Cancels Reservations to Djibouti Due to Growing Security Concerns

On Friday, Maersk MAERSKb.CO said that it was temporarily stopping reservations for its Blue Nile Express service to Djibouti from Asia, the Middle East, Oceania, East Africa, and South Africa.

“The situation in and around the Red Sea/Gulf of Aden continues to be volatile and all available intelligence at hand confirms that the security risk remains at a significantly high level,” Maersk stated in a press release.

Maersk said that Djibouti, Jeddah, and King Abdullah Port in Saudi Arabia will no longer be included in its Blue Nile Express service as of right now.

Ports in the United Arab Emirates, Oman, India, Djibouti, and Saudi Arabia are typically connected by the Blue Nile Express.

Maersk does not anticipate that the suspension will have any effect on its carrying capacity. The company is still unwaveringly committed to providing excellent customer service and making sure that goods are transported safely and smoothly throughout its extensive global network.
