The Third Mainland Bridge will be completely closed for a whole day in order to give the contractor time to complete a significant portion of the ongoing bridge repairs.
Oluwaseun Osiyemi, the Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, made the announcement of the Federal Ministry of Works’ closure in a statement on Monday.
He stated that the closure will impact the carriageways’ two boundaries from Wednesday, February 28, 2024, at noon to Thursday, February 29, 2024, at noon.
The bridge will not be available to traffic for a full day, thus the commissioner urged all drivers to utilize the alternate routes that were already in place during this time.
Osiyemi gave drivers the reassurance that traffic management personnel will be present to control traffic and lessen annoyances.
Since January, the bridge has been undergoing repairs, resulting in partial lane restrictions for both inbound and outbound traffic.
