Eight National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members who were abducted while traveling from Uyo, Akwa Ibom State to Sokoto State have been safely released.
The NYSC Director-General, YD Ahmed, confirmed the news during a press briefing on Friday, emphasizing the scheme’s dedication to ensuring the safety and well-being of its members.
Ahmed recounted that the Corps members were kidnapped on 17 August 2024 along the Funtua-Bisau Road in Zamfara State.
He praised the collaborative efforts of the Nigerian Army, Police, DSS, and traditional rulers, which played a key role in the eventual release of the kidnapped members.
The NYSC DG also issued a strong caution to Corps members about the dangers of night travel and reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to prioritizing the welfare and security of its members across the country.
