Following the violent clash in the Ogun-Aja, (Etamua) area of the metropolis od Sapele, Delta State over the weekend has the two chaotic idealists, Itsekiri and Arewa youths settle for peace.
With no death recorded nor arrest made during and after the incident which was contained in a statement by the States’ Police spokesperson, DSP Bright Edafe, he stated that at least, three persons were seriously injured while unspecified numbers of tricycles and motorcycles damaged in the attack majorly intensified around Mission Road, by Ogodo road junction in the state.
MacPherson Road, Hausa Road, Itsekiri Road, and Boyo Road to Mission Road were closed to traffic but are minor areas which were caught up in the web of crisis of which the police carried out patrols in those areas.
Arewa youths were alleged to have mobilized and attacked several Itsekiri youths, leading to the stabbing of two persons, a development that caused traders, passersby, and commuters to scamper for safety. This is because at about 5pm on Saturday a motorcycle rider of northern extraction accidentally collided with the car of an Itsekiri man on his way to a burial ceremony.
Many shops were allegedly looted, three tricycles and two motorcycles set ablaze while another tricycle and motorbike were destroyed according to eyewitness accounts.
