The minority gathering of the House of Representatives, after a meeting at the National Assembly on Tuesday gave a three-month ultimatum to the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led administration to curb the menace called insecurity in Nigeria.
The occupants of the green chamber vowed to mobilise Nigerians to take “matters into their own hands” if the government fails to act and make the country safe for all and sundry.
“After three months, the caucus will take further steps to sensitise and mobilise Nigerians to perhaps take their security into their hands,” stated Kingsley Chinda, the Minority Leader, who spoke on behalf of the caucus after a closed-door sitting.
Speaking on, he said the opposition can no longer fold their hands and watch insecurity leave the country in ruins.
“In the same vein, we x-rayed the security situation in our country and we resolved that we can no longer take this situation where Nigeria is today almost tagged as one life, one-minute silence.
“The government is therefore called upon to immediately take steps to ensure that the security situation in the country is normalised, and the caucus has also given a three-month ultimatum for government to normalise the security situation in our country.”
