Since they claim support for the Palestinian militant group, Hamas which their attack against Israel on October 7, 2023, has killed at least almost 1,500 people, the Houthi rebels who control a large strip of Yemen have yet again, struck at a U.S owned merchant vessel for the third time this week, as confirmed on Thursday 18th, January 2024 by Pentagon.
U.S. Central Command reports that at approximately 9 p.m. local time on Thursday, the M/V Chem Ranger, a ship owned by the United States and flying the flag of the Marshal Islands, was targeted by two anti-ship ballistic missiles fired by Houthi rebels.
According to CENTCOM, neither missile caused any damage to the Chem Ranger nor any injuries to anyone when it landed in the ocean close to the ship. And CENTCOM neither disclosed the exact location of the ship at the time of the attack.
This is following the U.S. launching multiple rounds of strikes on Houthi targets in Yemen on January 12 after several weeks of warnings by the U.S. officials including Secretary of State, Antony Blinken statement of ‘‘unspecified consequences’’ for the Houthis and also declaring them yet again a Foreign Terrorist Organization under Immigration and Nationality Act on 17th January, which was initially revoked on the 12th of February 2021.
