President Bola Tinubu has dismissed Jalal Arabi from his position as Executive Chairman of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON).
This was revealed by Presidential spokesman Ajuri Ngelale, who also announced Professor Abdullahi Saleh Usman as the new appointee to the role.
Ngelale highlighted Usman’s credentials, noting his educational background from the University of Madinah and Peshawar University in Pakistan.
Additionally, Usman has significant experience in Hajj operations, having previously served as Chairman of the Kano State Pilgrims Board, where he managed the country’s largest quota of state pilgrims.
The appointment is pending Senate confirmation, and President Tinubu expects Usman to execute his duties with integrity, transparency, and a strong commitment to the nation.
It was reported that Jalal Arabi, and the commission’s secretary, Abdullahi Kontagora, have been detained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over the alleged mismanagement of the ₦90 billion Hajj subsidy for 2024.
