Umar Abdullah Ganduje, Former Governor of Kano State and National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC)

An All Progressives Congress (APC) ward in Dawakin Tofa LGA of Kano has suspended Abdullahi Ganduje, national chair of the party and former Governor of Kano State over allegations of corruptions leveled against him.

The announcement of the suspension was made by Haruna Gwanjo, who is said to be the leader and legal adviser of the party in the ward.

“We decided to suspend Dr. Ganduje from the party due to the seriousness of the allegations against him,” Gwanzo said.

He clarified that the former governor needs to address and prove his innocence in the case before his ban can be lifted.

Last week, the Kano high court had ruled that Ganduje will be arraigned on April 17 on charges bordering on bribery, diversion, and misappropriation of public funds which does not leave out accusations of accepting $413,000 and ₦1.38 billion in bribes.

It was said that Ganduje, along with his wife and six others, will face arraignment in court.

Other defendants in the case include Abubakar Bawuro, Jibrilla Muhammad, Lamash Properties Limited, Safari Textiles Limited, and Lesaga General Enterprises.

The state government has also prepared 15 witnesses to testify before Justice Usman Na’aba of the State High Court.
