Friday, 29th March and Monday, 1st April 2024 have been declared as public holidays to mark the 2024 Good Friday and Easter Monday respectively by the Federal Government of Nigeria.
This was revealed by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the Federal Government.
He urged Christians and all Nigerians in general to emulate the sacrifice and love exemplified by Jesus Christ who died for the redemption of man.
Easter, beyond religious significance, promotes values of love, forgiveness and compassion which are essential for social cohesion and harmony, according to the Minister.
Furthermore, he called on Nigerians display acts of charity and generosity to help alleviate the conditions caused by the economic situation on the less privileged amongst them.
He also urged Nigerians to cooperate with President Tinubu-led Administration in its determination to bring sustainable development to Nigeria and usher in prosperity to all.
