E&S Tankers Welcomes Third LNG-Powered Chemical Tanker to Its Fleet

E&S Tankers, a collaborative effort between Essberger Tankers and Stolt Tankers in Germany, welcomed a new vessel to its fleet as it kicks off 2024 with a significant addition.

The latest addition, named Eberhart Essberger, marks the third of four newbuildings in the E&S Tankers lineup. This 6,600 deadweight tonnage (dwt) chemical tanker was formally delivered at China Merchant Jinling Shipyard on January 3, 2024, signifying a momentous step for the company.

Hoisting the flag of Portugal, this 7,500 cubic meters capacity tanker boasts dimensions of 120 meters in length and 17 meters in beam, offering a robust and capable addition to the fleet.

The genesis of this fleet expansion traces back to the strategic move made by the German shipowner John T. Essberger Group in 2021. At that time, they commissioned the construction of four 6,600 dwt stainless steel parcel chemical tankers in China, with an option to further expand the fleet by four more vessels.

Notably, the joint venture recently christened the first vessel of this new line, the Liselotte Essberger. Following this, the second ship in this series, named the John T. Essberger, was successfully launched in June 2023.

As the series progresses, the Heinrich Essberger, the concluding ship in this remarkable lineup, is on track for completion in February 2024 according to data compiled by VesselsValue. This systematic fleet expansion underscores the commitment and strategic vision of E&S Tankers in fortifying its presence in the chemical tanker market.
