The Department of State Services (DSS) has released journalist Adejuwon Soyinka, who was detained earlier at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos.
The reason for Soyinka’s arrest, which took place early Sunday, remains unclear as the DSS has not provided any explanation.
Soyinka, who is the Regional Editor of The Conversation Africa and a former BBC Pidgin Editor, was taken into custody upon his arrival from the United Kingdom at around 5 am.
A source close to Soyinka confirmed his release but mentioned that the DSS had confiscated his travel passport.
