Cancer Diagnosis: The King has been in regular contact – Rishi Sunak

Rishi Sunak, UK PM

As per Rishi Sunak’s statement to the BBC, King Charles III’s cancer was “caught early” and regular correspondence between the monarch and No 10, a way of referring to the UK Prime Minister is still ongoing.

Despite being “shocked and sad” by the diagnosis, the PM said he still communicates with the King on a daily basis.

Charles started “regular treatments” for his ailment on Monday and has since canceled all public engagements.

Few more information have been made public, but the Palace announced that he does not have prostate cancer.

Mr. Sunak expressed his hope that meetings between the two would continue and that the King’s health scare will be “over as quickly as possible” on BBC Radio 5 Live.

The prime minister added: “He’ll just be in our thoughts and our prayers – many families around the country listening to this will have been touched by the same thing and they know what it means to everyone.”

The King will continue to fulfill his constitutional duties as head of state, which include signing documents and holding private meetings, the Palace has emphasized.

Unless doctors advise him to minimize such interaction, it is expected that the King will continue to have in-person weekly audiences with Mr. Sunak.

While the King is receiving care, Prince William is anticipated to cover a portion of his father’s public appearances.
