BREAKING: Bolaji Agbede named Access Holdings acting CEO

Ms. Bolaji Agbede has been appointed as the acting group chief executive officer, according to a Monday announcement from Access Holdings Plc.

Its previous Group Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Herbert Wigwe, passed away.

Along with his wife, son, and former Nigeria Exchange Group chairman Abimboloa Ogunbanjo, Wigwe passed away in a helicopter crash on Friday.

The Central Bank of Nigeria’s acceptance of the nomination was mentioned in a statement released by the company’s Board of Directors on February 12, 2024.

“Further to its announcement dated February 11, 2024, the Board of Directors of Access Holdings Plc (‘the Company’) has today announced the appointment of Ms Bolaji Agbede as the Acting Group Chief Executive Officer of the Company following the unfortunate demise of its former Group Chief Executive Officer, Dr Herbert Wigwe, on February 9, 2024.

“The appointment is subject to the approval of the Central Bank of Nigeria,” the statement partly reads.

Agbede, who joined as an Assistant General at Access Bank in 2003, has almost thirty years of expertise in the banking and business consulting industries.

She worked for the bank in a variety of capacities, including Head of Group Human Resources from 2010 to 2022. In 2022, she was named Executive Director of Business Support, the position she held until her new assignment.
