Sounds of gunshots were reported to have rented the air as Governor Usman Ahmed Ododo of Kogi State departed the residence of his predecessor, Yahaya Bello, whose residence has been under the siege of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Wednesday.
Officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had earlier restricted movement in and around Bello’s house situated on Benghazi street, Wuse Zone 4 in a bid to arrest him.
The security operatives were reported to have reinforced with backup support from the Police and Department of State Services (DSS) after bing unable to capture their target for hours.
It was gathered that they were planning to forcefully arrest Bello before the arrival of the incumbent Kogi Governor.
Ododo, who drove into Bello’s compound, departed after a while.
However, as he was leaving, reports filtered in that Yahaya Bello was in his vehicle, forcing security operatives who had been on standby for hours to open fire.
