An explosion, suspected to be caused by a planted Improvised Explosive Device (IED), occurred at the popular Buni Yadi market in Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State.
It was reported by Channels Television that a resident, Ali Hassan, said the incident happened around 12:30 PM on Friday, injuring a girl. The girl’s name and current health status are yet unknown.
Captain Muhammad Shehu, spokesman for the Sector 2 Joint Task Force Operation Hadin Kai, confirmed the incident, stating that another IED planted in the market was discovered and successfully defused by the Army.
He added that the injured girl is receiving treatment at a local health facility. He emphasized that the incident was a planted IED, not a suicide bombing.
