Bobrisky pleads guilty to currency abuse charge

Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, on Friday, pleaded guilty to the charges of naira abuse at the Federal High Court in Lagos.

He was arraigned on six counts which included money laundering and abuse of naira.

However, EFCC’s prosecution counsel Suleiman Suleiman, prayed the court to strike out counts five and six (money laundering charges) before the charge was read to the defendant. He pleaded with the court to arraign him on counts one to four.

Justice Abimbola Awogboro aligned with him and struck out counts five and six.

Bobrisky had earlier told the court that he was not aware of the law on abusing the naira.

“I know, My Lord. My Lord, I wish that you could give me a second chance to use my platform to inform and educate my followers about spraying money, he said.

“I would do a video on my page and I will educate people about spraying money.

“I will not repeat it again. I regret my actions.”

However, “Yes, I am guilty” was the response when Bobrisky was asked if the charges were understood by him.

The crossdresser has been in EFCC detention since Wednesday night, and failed to meet the administrative bail offered to him on Thursday.
