Assault in Kogi hospital after patient passed away.

A doctor at the Federal Teaching Hospital in Lokoja has revealed how a group of men stormed the hospital on Tuesday over the death of a patient and attacked staff. The doctor shared videos on his X handle, k_f2d, explaining that the men, led by an unidentified political leader, demanded to see the doctors on duty upon arrival at the hospital.

About three people were seen struggling with a gun while shots were heard in one of the videos. The doctor captioned the video, saying, “My team was called to the A&E to review a new patient. A group of men in kaftan broke through the gate and started demanding for the doctors on duty.”

They seem to have lost a patient, and the physicians were their target. I found out that one of them is a political figurehead.

I don’t even know the patient in question, so I was staring at them in confusion. The leader stoned his phones at me the next thing I knew. There were only three of us doctors. From there, we got up and went inside.

They forced entry into the room where we were, grabbed my male coworker and myself, and nearly tore our shirts. I couldn’t even think to talk. There were a ton of them. We succeeded in leaving the A&E and moving to a different ward.

These individuals began damaging items in the A&E and hitting any staff members they came across, including security and nurses.

They had been really violent, so the CSO approached them while brandishing a gun. Several bullets were fired during the struggle as they managed to take the gun away from the man.

“The gate to the hospital was locked. Right now, we’re hiding throughout the hospital in various places. In the middle of the mayhem, I managed to capture this. This is taking place at Lokoja’s Federal Teaching Hospital.
