82-Year-Old Namibian President Breaks Down following Cancer Diagnosis

“On the advice of the medical team, President Geingob will undertake appropriate medical treatment to deal with the cancerous cells”, The President’s office stated.

This is following a biopsy done during a medical-routine check on the president on Jan 8th, of which a colonoscopy and gastroscopy was found.

His office stated that “Dr. Hage G. Geingob has premised public office and effective governance on processes, systems and institutions that are geared towards transparency and accountability, including on matters pertaining to his health status”. This is stated to cushion the fact that he is meant to carry out presidential duties alongside his cabinet which he Chairs.

President Geingob is known to have survived an aortic operation in 2023. Adn also prior his position as President, He revealed to have survived prostate cancer in 2014 while being a Prime Minister.

Meanwhile, National Assembly and Presidency elections have been scheduled to hold at the end of this year in the southern African nation.
