The All-Progressives Congress’s Governorship candidate in the last election in Adamawa state, Aisha Dahiru (Binani) in her petition and appeal against the elections result has her judgment reserved by the Apex Nigerian Court on Monday, 29th Jan, 2024. Before the supreme court, state election petition tribunal and the Court of Appeal had dismissed Binani’s petition challenging the victory of Finitiri in the governorship election. Eniola Oyeyode who is an acclaimed prince was arrested by the Osun state police command over the death of Richard Idowu, who is a Nigerian politician and also lectures in the United States. Idowu, who was shot at Oyeyode’s house on saturday evening and died shortly while receiving medical treatment in Ejigbo was also a well known PDP Chieftain in the state. The Nigerian Supreme Court in an unanimous decision by a five-member panel, dismissed as lacking in merit, an appeal the former lawmaker, who has been in prison custody since 2021, filed to challenge his conviction. The Supreme Court, on Friday, upheld the judgement that convicted and sentenced the former Chairman of the then House of Representatives Ad-hoc Committee on Fuel Subsidy probe, Mr. Farouk Lawan, to five years in prison for bribery. Collins Edomaruse, media aide to Prof. Olukoya, confirmed in a statement that US-based Nigerian blogger, Funke Ashekun has been fined $50,000 for defaming Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM) and its General Overseer, Prof. Daniel Olukoya.
