Victor Manuel Rocha, Former United States Ambassador to Bolivia, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for spying on the American government for over a decade. Rocha spied on the US government for Cuba. He was sentenced by Miami-based US District Judge Beth Bloom after accepting Rocha’s guilty plea on two counts, including acting as an agent of a foreign government. Rocha was also fined $500,000 with maximum penalty allowed. Joshua Rogers, a journalist and reporter with Channels Television, who was abducted at his residence in Rumuosi in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State has been freed. He was said to have been released around 10 p.m. on Friday unharmed, barely 24 hours after being abducted on Thursday. The naira, on Friday, traded at ₦1,142.38 to a dollar, representing a 7.16 per cent gain when compared to the previous trading date on Monday, April 8, when it exchanged at ₦1,230.61 to a dollar. Erstwhile Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, was granted bail by the Court after meeting the stipulated conditions. He had arrived at the Lagos High Court, Ikeja in the custody of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) operatives but was later released to return home following the court proceedings.
